Blues at Barleylands are marking International Women’s Day by bringing together 2 of the UK’s best. Starting off with the Demi Marriner Band nominee 2025 UK Blues Awards

Demi Marriner, a name that resonates throughout the UK music scene, this talented singer-songwriter has been making waves in the country, Americana, and blues circuits with her powerful vocals, emotive performances, and exceptional songwriting skills.

Hailing from Birmingham, Demi Marriner has quickly established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the British country music landscape. Her debut EP “Tracks and Trails” and follow-up “Dandelion” achieved remarkable success, reaching numbers 1 and 2 in the iTunes UK Country Album Chart. These early triumphs caught the attention of industry stalwarts, earning her endorsements from Whispering Bob Harris, Under The Apple Tree, and Chris Difford.

Demi’s talent has not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by her win of the Whispering Bob Harris’s Emerging Artist Award at the 2021 UK Americana Awards. Her tassel boots have graced stages across the UK, Europe, and the USA, including notable performances at Americana Fest Nashville, Wilderness Festival, and Cheltenham Jazz Festival. Demi has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Rufus Wainwright, Sam Outlaw, and Wildwood Kin, further cementing her status in the industry.

Following Demi will be our headline act the Alice Armstrong Band who have played our little stage on a number of occasions already.

Hailing from the south of England, Alice won the 2024 UK Blues Challenge, and went on with her band to win the 2025 European Blues Challenge and shortly after won 2025 Uk Blues Awards Contemporary Artist of the Year.

An independent, multi-award-winning singer-songwriter and entertainer from the UK, reshaping nostalgic rhythm & blues grooves through a contemporary lens. Armstrong delivers heart-breaking ballads and toe-tapping ear-worms with a breathtaking vocal talent, sharp wit and electric stage presence, all backed by a world-class band.

In 2025 so far, Armstrong’s second studio EP, Fury & Euphoria, gained over 100K streams in it’s first month, she has performed live on BBC Radio 2 at Maida Vale Studios and was interviewed on air by Cerys Matthews for the second time. She and her band secured first place at the European Blues Challenge after competing against acts from 22 other countries, and was voted Contemporary Artist of the Year at the UK Blues Awards for the second year running. She also features on Joe Bonamassa’s Spotify playlists and has played to sold out venues in over 22 countries.

Her debut studio EP Love, Sex and Death was met with critical acclaim, followed by the equally celebrated 2024’s Live at Area 88. Her second studio EP, Fury and Euphoria, was released on 1st July 2025.
