Bad Pennies are an established, hard-working blues-rock trio based out of the Medway Delta and Dover area in Kent, UK. Known for their tagline "Top Dollar Rock & Blues—No Short Change & No Dodgy Notes!", they have carved out a reputation as one of the most reliable and high-energy acts on the local pub, club, and festival circuit.
Band History & Breakthrough
Originally formed around 2000, the band spent many years primarily as a dedicated live covers outfit. Fronted by vocalist and guitarist Gary Seager, they built a tight, "house-trained" chemistry through continuous weekend gigging across the county.
Their trajectory shifted in 2016 when they began writing original music. They released an initial EP titled Turned Up Again, which successfully debuted at No. 22 on the Independent Blues Broadcasters Association (IBBA) UK Blues chart. Following this momentum, they recorded their highly anticipated full-length debut album, Songs from the Medway Delta, at Ranscombe Studios, officially releasing it in early 2018.
Musical Style & Influences
The trio delivers a raw, unadulterated, and no-nonsense brand of classic British blues-rock. Media write-ups and industry reviews, such as those featured on Get Ready to ROCK!, often describe their music as a nostalgic snapshot of the classic pub-rock template.
